Artist Bio
Many craft theorists discuss the oppositional play involved in using handcraft techniques in contemporary contexts. My multi-media art work explores this concept through the disruption of printed artifacts with materials such as fiber, thread, acrylic paint and the use of methods such as collage, weaving, and needlework. My feminist artwork uses the techniques of handcraft to comment on the antiquated notions of domesticity and female oppression. I have had multiple exhibits in Toronto, Canada and am represented by Galerie Le Royer in Montreal.
In 2019 I moved to San Francisco to teach design at San Francisco State University. I am now an active member of the San Francisco Women's Artist Gallery and City Art Gallery and have exhibited throughout San Francisco including the DeYoung Museum.
