Clare Metague
Artist Bio
I’m a San Francisco native who grew up a few blocks from City Arts Gallery. After graduating from California College of the Arts (CCA), I enjoyed many years working as a graphic designer before turning my attention to the fine arts.
At present, I am finding such beauty in simplicity - which provides more space to breath, recharge, and contemplate. I strive to distill my artwork to get as close to its essence as possible. Creating imagery that is simple yet interesting and beautiful are creative goals I aspire to accomplish.
Most of my fine art prints range from one of a kind mono prints, to very limited edition prints. Many prints are done on a hand cranked press. Often hand rubbing ink onto thin Japanese papers is incorporated. I typically use water based paints (gouache and watercolors) for my paintings and take inspiration from life drawing sessions. I am honored to have a painting chosen for the DeYoung Museum Open: 2023-24.
My studio is in building 101 at the Hunter’s Point Shipyard. Text or call 415.412.1199 toarrange a visit at your convenience.
