Selina Lee
"Art is food that feeds the soul"
Selina’s Watermelon World oil painting series is a fantasy world she created in 2019 to escape an apocalyptic time of the COVID lockdowns, the California fires and the BLM social protests. Her playful imagination allows her to paint the world through watermelon lenses, highlighting the beauty of the fruit and the possibility of creating a new reality--to inspire nonviolent social change, to cultivate appreciation for nature and to demystify watermelon stereotypes. Selina’s watermelon art is a symbol of the infinite creative force that exists in all of us, if we are only brave enough to tap into it.
Selina is a Korean-American artist, born and based in San Francisco California. She enjoys experimenting with a range of mediums from oil, acrylic, watercolor, embroidery and sewing to ceramics, up-cycling and graphic design. When she’s not teaching or creating art, Selina loves to roller skate, bicycle or travel.
