Swann Freslon

Artist Bio

I am an abstract painter.

I am influenced by the colors and energy of my life and the life around me; nature, my family, my life of travels and the humans I meet, the countries I lived in and the ones I’ve visited… whether the source of laughs or tears, I try to absorb and depict them whole.

I seek to create abstract paintings as an exercise of letting go; letting go of the flow of my emotions and the viewer’s emotions; to the point where you do not precisely know how to express what you are looking at, but you deeply feel it in your soul.

As the viewer, I want you to feel that raw emotion, that energy, and how it interacts with everything around us. My paintings do not have to necessarily be something you already know or are able to figure out. Do not think too much and do not try to intellectualize art too much. The raw is what it is about. No superfluous qualifiers, just true emotions. This is the beauty of the abstract when the viewer explores what the artist has defined in the painting. That is how I would like the viewer to see my paintings.

Be spontaneous!

Born in France and raised in multiple countries in Africa, art has always been part of Swann’s education. That is really when she was a student in France that she began to paint for herself. Using big advertising cardboard found on the sidewalks, she was adept at mixed media.

She lived a few years in France and England and a long time in Montreal (Canada). She is now living in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Painting is what defines her. Swann paints in an abstract style, in acrylics, using multiple layers to enhance the texture, manipulating the stunning effects of the resin, or applying her creativity to inks on different mediums: canvas, birch wood panels, or aluminum plates.

She has participated in multiple groups and individual exhibitions across the San Francisco Bay Area. Her art is part of private and corporate collections from the USA to Europe, Canada, and Asia.

She painted a heart sculpture for the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. After being publicly shown in 2019 at Union Square, San Francisco, it is now featured on Genentech Campus.
