Dawn Harmer
Dawn Harmer Creative
As an artist, Dawn thrives in exploring new techniques and themes. Some projects are driven by the theme using materials that help translate it onto paper, canvas and wood. Other projects are born through play - with paint, with color, and tools. Always pursuing concepts that resonate personally. Nostalgia is often an underlying theme throughout her work.
Dawn’s latest series, Faded Blues, features denim imprints onto paper, canvas andwood. Using a Gel Plate printing process she utilizes second hand jeans, shirts and acrylic paints to make textured two dimensional art pieces. Celebrating a fashion staple for all ages and cultures. For the love of denim.
With an associate's degree in Photography from Toronto, Canada, she spent many years working in portrait and editorial photography. Now she dedicates her time to an art practice. Both in photography and mixed medium art forms.

Artist Statement
A current project I'm exploring incorporates Gel Plate Printing and the use of acrylics, art paper and wood substrates. I am exploring new ways to showcase a textile print making series. With my latest series, ”Faded Blues" I use pre-loved denim jeans to celebrate beloved blue jeans into two dimensional wall art.
